Ashurbanipal: the last great king of the ancient Assyrian empire!

Ashurbanipal (668-627 BC) defeated the Elamites in which their king, Teumann, committed suicide. Ashurbanipal tortured and executed enslaved people they captured. After his death in 627, the Assyrians went into civil war, leading to the downfall of the empire.
