Ulysses S. Grant: the Union general who forced Robert E. Lee to surrender during the American Civil War!
Ulysses S. Grant (April 27, 1822-July 23, 1885) fought under former President/at this time General Zachary Taylor in the Mexican War. Later on, he beat out time and again defeated the Confederate army, allowing the Union army to win the American Civil War. Four days after he completed his life story, he died from throat cancer.
